Mini Stair Stepper Safety Tips
Before you Begin
If you are under medical care, consult your physician before beginning any form of strenuous exercise.
Perform an honest self assessment. Ask yourself the following questions:
- Do you have concerns about you health and readiness for exercise?
- Are you over 40 years of age and been relatively inactive?
- Are you under a doctor’s care for a heart condition?
- Are you aware of any heart problems you may have?
- Do you experience pain in your chest when you are not exerting yourself?
- Do you experience pain in your chest during physical exertion?
- Do you ever experience vertigo or dizziness?
- Do you have an impaired sense of balance?
- Do you have problems in joints that could aggravated by exercise?
If you answered yes to any of the above, then please consult a physician before embarking on any strenuous programs.
The equipment
Mini steppers do not have side rails or handles, although they may have a vertical bar with a hand hold for balance
Check for:

Solid, stable platform with a wide stance.

Smooth, independent stepping action

Clear instructions for assembly, use and maintenance

Check the weight capacity of the unit to be sure it will support you.

Be sure you know when and how to maintain the unit.
The workout area
Your workout area should be free of obstructions and clutter, with clear space around the stepper, and enough headroom that you can stand erect even at the top of the step motion.
Check for:

clear space around the unit
Using the Stepper
If you’re just getting used to the unit you may want to exercise near a wall, a doorway, or a kitchen counter, where you have something to grab onto to steady yourself if you start to lose your balance.
Be sure to:

maintain good posture

wear proper shoes

keep your drinking water nearby
